Start with the accounts and operations
A shared CRM foundation does not give two trading platforms identical execution capabilities. Select the edition that matches your broker environment, account groups and required operations. Then validate those operations through the actual connector.
Both editions provide a client and team workspace. MT4 connects through its dedicated REST gateway; MT5 connects through authorized MT5 Web API access. The acceptance plan must cover the account data and permissions your team will use.
Compare current platform capabilities
This comparison reflects the product scope reviewed on 18 October 2026. Availability on an individual broker connection still depends on access rights, data and configured services. The table separates retained interfaces from enabled operations.
| Workflow | MT4 edition | MT5 edition |
|---|---|---|
| Clients, KYC, portal, support | Retained client and team workflows | Available client and team workflows |
| Account import | Verified REST gateway, exact group and complete account response | Authorized MT5 Web API and manager permissions |
| MAM execution | Pool interface retained; live execution blocked | Explicitly confirmed equal or weighted batches |
| Copy Trading | Live execution and MT4-to-MT5 copying unavailable | Supported hedging accounts, approved routes and a running worker |
| PAMM | Local interfaces; settlement, rollover and transfers blocked | Dedicated manager account, investor shares and settlement checks |
| Account creation / balance writes | Account creation disabled; balance writes disabled by default | Required API rights and operation checks |
| Installation | Own configuration, private database and encryption key | Own configuration, private database and encryption key |
Execution and investor accounting
MT5 MAM prepares an equal or weighted plan, requires confirmation and records results per participating account. MT5 Copy Trading uses configured routes between compatible hedging accounts and needs a running execution worker. MT5 PAMM records investor shares and checks settlement conditions around a dedicated manager account.
MT4 retains investment-module interfaces while live MAM and Copy Trading execution, PAMM settlement, rollover and transfers remain blocked. MT4-to-MT5 copying is not included in the current MT4 edition.
Deployment and migration decisions
Keep the installations, private databases and encryption keys separate. Verify account identifiers with their server and connection context so identical logins on different servers do not become confused.
Plan import, access roles, client portal checks, reconciliation and recovery before production. If both platforms are required, define responsibilities for each edition and confirm which records can be migrated without assuming that trading state or permissions transfer automatically.
